Water and Weight Loss

Water is a wonderful thing.  Nearly 60% of the human body is made of water, so it’s important to keep that composition balanced.  Drinking water keeps your body functioning – all your body systems depend on it.  Water flushes out toxins, potentially resulting in clearer skin, higher kidney function, and better digestion.  Medifast Weight Control Center® consultants recommend drinking at least 8 glasses (64 oz.) of water every day to maintain good hydration.


Drinking water is also a great addition to any weight loss plan.  First of all, it has no calories – so drink up! Drinking a glass of water right after you wake up in the morning kick-starts your metabolism and hydration for the day.  Drinking water also makes you feel fuller, so you consume less calories and helps to remove by-products of fat.  Try drinking a glass of water before every meal to encourage the effects.
